Post-reading #1: Teacher Man (due Sunday)
After reading the article (in your Read to Succeed packet) while listening to my audio, I want you to answer the following question as a comment to this post:
What makes Teacher Man an unconventional teacher? In other words, in what ways is he unconventional? Explain as fully as possible.

I think the thing makes Teacher Man an unconventional teacher is that he chooses the different way to teach writing for their students. Other teachers focus on how to write a good paragraph or essay. And students fell bored when they have to put a lot of words on the same topic. However, when they write excuse notes, they use their creativity and imagination to give many different reasons for their mistake. This thing wakes up the writer. So he decide to teach writing in another way. He chooses the favorite topic for student ( study the art of the excuse notes). There is no teacher choose writing excuse notes as the method to teach writing before. Nevertheless, he gets success. Students are interested in writing. Although the class finish and their friends are waiting for them to eat lunch, they continue to write about the topic he gave them
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the thing that makes the teacher man unconverional, he had many techniques to satisfy his students ( teaching them the way that , they want for a better understanding) . Actually, many professors care about the context or the way that students improve their writing day by day ,or to respond correctly to an assignment , but the fact that is interesting with the teacher man , he uses the escuse note and might turned into a subject worthy of study .
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the teacher understand and love his student so much that he know what his students want and be able to do. I also used to be an English teacher, so I understand that when my students can learn a new word, it is my happiness. And I will be happier if they can remember and use this new word.
ReplyDeleteTherefore, when I read this passage, I share the same sympathy with this teacher. I think he wants the parents write excuse note not only he needs an apology but also he needs the parents’ care of their children. However, he recognize something more valuable than the apology, it is the ability to write an imaginative excuse notes of his students. And then he finds out the way to make his students love writing.
In conclusion, his love helps him find out a suitable way to teach his students better, and also his love makes him become unconventional.
His desire to improve the students is what made him an unconventional teacher. He didn't punish them for their bad habit of forging the notes, but he used it to make them get excited and eager to write more and more.
ReplyDeleteTeacher Man is an unconventional teacher, because he have found different ways to encourage his students to write without any pression. The students are creative to write excuses which look like believable. In order to show the teacher that their parents were the person who wrote that, improving their stile to write close to parent's style.
ReplyDeleteThe way how the teacher improve his students is unconventional and a good way to leave the connotation about writing. The students don't realized that they are improving they way how they are thinking, imaginative, creative, fluent, and clear in the fantastic way to find the perfect and beliavable note to show their teachers.
What makes Teacher Man an unconventional teacher are these ways used to help his students to improve. Innovation and creation are the words which come first in my mind when I heard "unconventional". And that exactly what happened when he decided to use excuse note to stimulate student in writing.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes him unconventional is his way of teaching and the way he improves his students writing, he uses their excuses to improve their skills in writing, I think it's a great way to teach writing !
ReplyDeleteFrom my point of view, the creativity makes Teacher Man become an unconventional teacher. Unlike the way of traditional teaching, he focus on the way to make students learning by themselves instead of giving them knowledge directly. This way makes the knowledge more impressive in the student's mind. Besides, the students will not feel boring in the class. They will try their best to show themselves more for teachers, which led them learn more than study in the traditional way.
ReplyDeleteBased on the reading, Teacher Man is unique because he applies the unconventional method to teach his students. He makes his students write excuse notes to improve their writing skills instead of writing some formal lectures that they are usually written in class, it makes them feel bored to give words. By the way, with excuse notes, the students can have their creativity to write the best to find the reasons for their mistakes so that the teacher can not give them bad grade. I think this is an interesting method because the students can write whatever is pop up in their minds and they do not depend on any formular of writing. It helps create creativity and literature talent of each student.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the reading, Teacher Man is unconventional teacher because he apply differents way to teach his student which help his students to improve in their subjects. In addition, his students can have their creativity which help them to solve problems and learn from their mistakes. This kind of teaching, in my opinion, its the best way to teaching because the students learn better when their used their creativity. Also, the students takes the best decision in their life when they using all of their abilities which are developing from their creativity. In the same way, this method help parents too.
ReplyDeleteI think what makes teacher man unconventional teacher because he used different way to teach his students in writing , he make them use their creativity and imagination to write an excuse note which was better for them than the traditional way.
ReplyDeleteThis was a successful way and the students did will on it , on the other hand the students may feel boring if they have to write about a normal topic such as in a traditional way.
Teacher man lead the students to learn by themselves with there imagination and that waht made him unconventional teacher
Teacher Man is an unconventional teacher because of the way he teaches his students in writing. With other teacher, they teach students traditionally way in writing. However, Teacher Man do not teach this way. He found out that the excuse notes which his students gave it to him are very interesting, imaginative, fantastic, persuasive. He tried to discover all his student`s imagination by letting them to writing excuse story which they usually write
ReplyDeleteAs an unconventional teacher, he found out what really motivated his students in writing class. No matter how dramatic the excues was, he took it as a positive improvment in his students' writing skills.
ReplyDeleteTeacher Man knows how to take the students' attention and how they see the World and that's why he is an unconventional teacher. In his class, he has some methods to teach something new to the students. He also understands his students' perspectives. Every students has perfect imagination, he thinks that if he can explore the students' imagination he can find new ways to teach something to them. With those ways, he can reach their minds. With the excuse note example, he shows us how to discover their thoughts, take their attention and change their behaviors.

By writing excuse notes, students can improve their writing skills instead of they must write boring lectures in the class. This is an useful method because students can use their imagination and they are not forced to allow any standard.
